The hardest thing for me when it comes to losing weight is staying consistent. I know if eat right, and not too much, and walk around the park almost everyday, that I will burn fat rather than store it. As long as I stick with that plan consistently then I will see the results.
Conversely, the reason I am currently eating at a calorie deficit and walking in the park almost everyday is because I was consistent in eating a large Sonic Reeses Blast almost everyday for months. Comfort food for sure! But it came with a price.
In both instances, consistency is what made the difference.
It’s interesting how doing what is bad for us often feels good in the moment, but ends up with a negative consequence. Of course I’m not just talking about eating ice cream everyday. I’m referring to sin. The writer of Hebrews has this warning. Hebrews 12 verse 1:
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us
Sin so easily ensnares us. Kind of like the ice cream. If sin wasn’t fun, no one would be tempted by it! But there is a very real danger in sinning consistently. The Apostle Paul warns us in Galatians 5:19-21
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Take a look at that list. There is something in there for everyone! We are all guilty. That’s why Jesus had to die for our sins! We are born with a sin nature and so we sin. When we get born again, we receive a new nature. One that doesn’t want to sin… But beware. If you practice such things… if you are consistently sinning and it doesn’t bother you… you will not inherit the kingdom of God. I believe that if you are born again, and you sin, your conscience will bother you. So much so that you will get tired of sinning. If your sin doesn’t bother you then I would be really concerned. 1 Timothy 4:1 & 2 says
1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron…
These people, notice in latter times, are not saved. They are not Christians. They have departed from the faith!
As Christians it is important that when we do give in to the flesh that we run to God and, as I like to say, 1st John 1:9 it!
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Jesus has already paid for our sins! Confessing them to God keeps our hearts soft toward Him and keeps us in a right relationship with our God who loves us so much!
Galatians 6:9 says this:
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Stay close to Him. Read your Bible consistently. Pray without ceasing. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. You have His Word on it!
You were born for such a time as this. God has a good plan for your life. I’ll prove it to you. Ephesians 2:10 says:
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
I am already starting to see results from walking in the park everyday and eating right consistently. This YouTube Channel will grow if I upload videos consistently.
God’s Love for You is not only consistent, but constant! If you will stay close to Him consistently, not perfectly because this side of Heaven you will not be perfect, but if you will spend time with Him consistently it will change your life because God is changing your life!
Remember. Because God Loves You He gives you the ability to Love God and Love People! Jesus IS Coming Soon. Are You Ready?
